In Smoky Quartz and Garnet, the upper and lower rectangles hold the passage down through darkening water toward that lost city, hazy grey giving way to a deep red glow said to still burn somewhere in its sunken halls, while the textured square at the centre, set with a round cabochon, marks the surface itself, the last point of light before the descent begins. Serpentine and Green Amethyst carry the same descent in cooler tones, water read as green shadow deepening toward violet dark.
